White reticulated leaf with green veins in the spring before changing to a brownish color with noticeable maroon veining as the leaf ages. The leaf edges are crinkled. Dark maroon-red petioles add a nice color contrast to the reticulated leaf. Fall color is crimson. Wide spreading maple to 15-20 ft. with a 12-15 ft. Slow-growing. Very old variety dating back to the 1800's. This is the red counterpart of 'Shigitatsusawa'. Best color in the shade. Will tolerate full sun but leaf edges may burn and the color will fade. Well-drained soil. Zone 5
