Wide, bright green leaves with purple-red margins in the spring followed by a rich dark green color in the summer month. Leaf is rather thick hence the name meaning, "grasshopper skin." Crimson- purple fall color. Medium sized tree with a round canopy, reaching 12-13 ft. tall and wide. Excellent specimen tree. Sun or part shade in well-drained soil. Zone 5.
