A compact, shrubby maple with small leaves. This is a new import from Japan and is great for bonsai, small gardens and containers. Brown-pink leaves in early spring become green with a brown cast followed by dark green for the summer. Leaves are congested on the branches similar to 'Ryuzu'. Scarlet fall color. Very unique colored maple in the spring. 3ft x 3ft in 10yrs. Sun or part shade in well-drained soil. Zone 5.
