Feathery green leaves have a brownish-red blush on the new growth. As the leaves open in the spring, they are very narrow, almost looking like strings. As the leaves mature, they are not as wide as the 'Koshimino or the 'Hiroha Koshimino' The other difference is that 'Hosoba Koshimino' has more leaves that look clustered on the branches. 'Hosoba' means thin leaf. Narrow habit reaching 10-12 ft at maturity. Fast growing tree. Fall color is reddish orange to crimson. Sun or shade in well-drained soil. Zone 5.
