EZELL'S RED-2 gallon

A dark red-maroon maple that holds color well in the hot summer sun. Great for the southern states since the leaf doesn't burn providing that it doesn't dry out. Crimson fall color. Upright and narrow in habit. Moderate growth rate 8 ft in 10 yrs. Sun/part shade in well-drained soil. Zone 5. A man named Ezell Frezell gave this tree to Harold Johnston. Harold grafted one and gave it to a friend to watch and told him to graft a few more. Good thing he grafted more since Harold had lost his plant. Harold was able to get another Ezell back a couple years ago (2008). The tree originally was called Ezell Frezell but was changed to Ezell's Red.
