Very cute small, rounded leaves. This is the smallest leaf of the Shirasawanum. Leaves emerge light yellow green with a reddish edge changeing to a light green for the summer. Fall colors are brilliant tones of yellows and oranges. Tight bunches of bright red samaras add interest in the fall. Small twiggy tree may reach only 16 ft. at maturity. Said to be an old variety dated back to 1911. "Juni" means twelve and "hitoye" means clothes. Together they mean twelve layer of the Japanese Kimono for noble people.
