BENI SHI EN-2017 graft

Discovered and propagated by Harold Johnston of Johnnie's Pleasure Plants in AL, this unusual maple has various leaf shapes and colors. Some leaves have strap-like lobes, some are sickle-like and some could be palmate. No two leaves are the same. Leaves emerge in the spring red in the spring, followed by purple to green. Some leaf edges will have a cream to light green color to the edges. Very similar to the newer variety 'Mannyo no Sato'. When looking at the tree in the summer, the color varies on each leaf. Holds color well in the hot summer months. Better color seems to be in morning sun with afternoon shade. Does not burn. Golden fall color. 12 ft at maturity with an upright, slender vase shape. Well-drained soil. Zone 5
