MUSASHINO-2 gallon

$45.00

Dark purple leaves have a silvery pubescence in the spring. The pubescence disappears in the summer to show the almost black-purple bold leaf. Very hardy and a very old cultivar from Japan. Stiff, upright appearance with a rounded top. Brilliant scarlet fall color. They say it is synonyms with 'Nomura nishiki' but I find the shape to be different and leaf is darker. 'Musashino' is a strong upright with stiff branching and 'Nomura nishiki' has a more vase shaped habit and the branching is not as stiff. 'Musashino' will become 18-25 ft at maturity. Best color in full sun. Can be grown in part shade. Well-drained soil. Zone 5
