MUSASHINO-2g

$38.00

Dark purple leaves have a silvery pubescence in the spring. The pubescence disappears in the summer to show the almost black-purple bold leaf. Very hardy and a very old cultivar from Japan. Stiff, upright appearance with a rounded top. Brilliant scarlet fall color. They say it is synonyms with 'Nomura nishiki' but I find the shape to be different. 'Musashino' is a strong upright with stiff branching and 'Nomura nishiki' has a more vase shaped habit and the branching is not as stiff. The colors are somewhat differnt too. 'Musashino' will become 26 ft at maturity. Best color in full sun. Can be grown in part shade. Well-drained soil. Zone 5
