Toothed margins give the leaf a feathery look. 20 ft tall with a rounded head will become 16 ft in width. The new yellow-orange foliage brightens the spring day before turning an unusual deep purple hue in the summer months. Late in the summer, the leaves will have a greenish hue. Bright red petioles and a nice contrast to the maple through out the seasons. This is an old Japanese cultivar dating to the 1800's. Deep red fall color. Sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Zone 5
