SHISHIGASHIRA-2016 graft

'Lion's Head' maple. There are three maples that are similar to this. 'Mejishi' is the "female lion". 'Ojihsi' is the "male lion". 'Shishigashira' is the more widely distributed form of this maple. Slow growing, twiggy, upright tree with clusters of dark green crumpled leaves. Will reach a height of 16 ft. at maturity. Gold fall color blushed with rose and crimson. Under my observations side by side with 'Mejishi', I have noticed the form of the tree is somewhat different and the leaves seem to be smaller on the 'Shishgashira'.
Sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Zone 5
