Early in the 1970's this maple was given the cultivar status as Acer Japonica. After a close study, it has been decided that it actually belongs in the Acer sieboldianum group. New foliage is light green with yellow margins and a silver pubescence. Like most sieboldianum maples beautiful fall color of oranges and yellow.
